One citation style that is common on campuses and in publishing is called CMoS, CMS, or sometimes “Chicago,” because it is laid out in the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition. This short paper will provide the newcomer to CMoS with a bit of its history and rationale and will present a visual example of the footnote system commonly required for Chicago-style papers.
